Natural Medicine for Children

When my three year old daughter had an ear infection recently, I was reminded of the power of Chinese Medicine when it comes to pediatric care.

Otitis media, which is an inflammatory condition of the middle ear, is extremely common in children. The conventional medical approach is a course of antibiotics. However, given that my daughter had a mild case of otitis media, I opted to pursue natural remedies first and use antibiotics only if necessary. Our pediatrician fully supported this approach.

Research has suggested that the microbiome affects our digestion, metabolism, immunity, skin health, mood, and even brain performance. Overuse and misuse of antibiotics leads to declining variety within the microbiome, which has been linked to autoimmune disease and increased susceptibility to chronic conditions like allergies, celiac disease, and obesity.

Long story short, I gave my daughter a brief acupuncture treatment and some herbal medicine, and she was better within two days.

Chinese Medicine excels at treating pediatric conditions in a natural and gentle way that restores homeostasis and preserves the integrity of the digestive system.

Acupuncture is totally safe for kids and they often behave better after a treatment (no joke). We use the tiniest needles and they usually don’t fuss after the first one. If acupuncture isn’t enticing for your child, then moxibustion, acupressure, essential oils, and gentle herbs are more non-invasive effective approaches.

Here is a brief introduction to some pediatric conditions that Chinese Medicine treats:

Chinese Medicine supports the intelligence of the body to heal itself when given the proper conditions. It speeds up recovery naturally and restores balance to the internal ecosystem, setting the stage of true health.
